If you live or work in Newton Heath, you’re in the gateway to east Manchester. You know the area has NHS dental options, and some high-street chains. But when you want dental implants — a long-term, precision procedure that needs stability and continuity — you deserve a dentist who’ll be there for years to come.
Walmsley Dental is the most trusted family-owned implant provider serving Newton Heath and east Manchester. We’ve been on Manchester Road since 1984. We’re run by Dr Edward Walmsley and his wife Emma. And we hold a 4.9★ Google rating from over 340 patient reviews. Many of our Newton Heath patients have been with us for years, coming back for the same reason: a local practice with a genuine long-term commitment to their oral health.
Single dental implant from £2,750. All-on-4 from £10,000 per arch. All-on-6 from £12,000 per arch. Implant consultation £50, fully redeemable against treatment.
A family practice with 40+ years on Manchester Road
Newton Heath patients know the A62 and A6010 corridors well. We’re at 253 Manchester Road in Droylsden — just 8 minutes door-to-door from Newton Heath town centre, on the same main road that connects your area straight through to us. You’re not driving across Manchester; you’re heading a few minutes east along your familiar route.
The practice was founded on Manchester Road in 1984 by Stephen and Heather Walmsley, and is run today by their son Dr Edward Walmsley (GDC No. 202897) and his wife Emma Walmsley. That makes Walmsley Dental one of the longest-established dental practices in the east Manchester region — and one of the few locally still run by the same family that founded it.
Continuity matters for implants. Implants are a long-term tooth replacement — the practice that places them needs to still be there in 5, 10, 20 years for hygiene, monitoring, and any rare repair. We’ve been here for over 40 years, with 340+ five-star Google reviews behind us, and we’re not going anywhere. Many Newton Heath patients have been seeing us for a decade or more — some across two generations of their own family.
Our receptionist Loren joined us as a 16-year-old in the 1980s and is still on the front desk today, 40+ years later. That’s the kind of team stability you get when a practice is family-owned, not managed by a chain office in a distant city.
You can see what life inside the practice is actually like on our Instagram — @walmsleydental — where we regularly share before/after implant cases, treatment journeys, and behind-the-scenes content from the team.

Newton Heath implant FAQs
Why would I choose a private implant practice over NHS options in Newton Heath?
Many Newton Heath residents have access to NHS dentistry, but NHS implants are rarely offered — most are private. When you choose a private practice like Walmsley Dental, you get to pick the clinician and the implant system, you receive a fixed quote upfront, and you’re supported with premium imaging (CBCT 3D scan) and integrated hygiene care. We’re not a corporate chain rotating clinicians through; you see the same doctor throughout your treatment.
How does a family-owned practice compare to the larger implant chains?
Corporate chains offer convenience through multiple locations, but implants are a long-term procedure. You want continuity — the same clinician understanding your case, reviewing your implant in 5 years, managing any adjustment. We’re family-owned and family-run. Dr Edward Walmsley and Emma run this practice themselves; there’s no quarterly KPI pressure to upsell, and no clinician rotation.
Can I switch to Walmsley Dental if I’m currently registered with another Newton Heath practice?
Absolutely. Many Newton Heath patients come to us specifically for implant treatment while staying registered with their existing dentist for routine care. Or you can transfer all your care to us; we’ll request your records from your previous practice with your consent.
Is the implant procedure done in one visit?
For most cases, no — the implant placement is a single appointment under local anaesthetic, then 3–4 months for the implant to integrate before fitting the final porcelain crown.
What if I need bone grafting before I can have implants?
Bone grafting and sinus lifts are quoted separately and depend on what your CBCT scan shows. Many patients don’t actually need grafting once we’ve taken the scan.
Can I see a written treatment plan before I commit?
Yes — every implant patient leaves their first appointment with a written treatment plan and fixed quote. The £50 consultation fee is fully redeemable.
What’s your success rate for dental implants?
Single implants we place have an integration success rate above 97%, in line with the published clinical evidence for premium implant systems placed by experienced clinicians.
