Dukinfield patients looking for dental implants face a choice: larger corporate chains in Ashton-under-Lyne, or someone you can trust who’s been in the Tame Valley since 1984. Walmsley Dental is the personal family-run option. We’ve been on Manchester Road in Droylsden for over 40 years, we’re family-owned and family-run, and we hold a 4.9★ Google rating from over 340 patient reviews. Many of our most loyal implant patients live in Dukinfield, have been with us across multiple generations, and specifically chose us because we’re not a corporate chain.
Single dental implant from £2,750. All-on-4 from £10,000 per arch. All-on-6 from £12,000 per arch. Implant consultation £50, fully redeemable against treatment.
A family practice in the Tame Valley since 1984 — just 12 minutes from Dukinfield
We’re at 253 Manchester Road in Droylsden, sitting in the heart of the Tame Valley — part of the same Tameside borough as Dukinfield. A pleasant drive along the valley from Dukinfield town centre gets you to us in about 12 minutes. No sitting in Ashton’s traffic, no driving into central Manchester.
The practice was founded on Manchester Road in 1984 by Stephen and Heather Walmsley, and is run today by their son Dr Edward Walmsley (GDC No. 202897) and his wife Emma Walmsley. That makes Walmsley Dental one of the longest-established family dental practices in the Tame Valley.
That continuity matters for implant patients. Implants are a long-term tooth replacement, and the practice that places them needs to still be there in 5, 10, 20 years for hygiene, monitoring, and the rare repair. We’ve been here for over 40 years, with 340+ five-star Google reviews behind us, and we’re not going anywhere.
It’s not just the family clinicians who’ve stayed. Our receptionist Loren joined the practice as a 16-year-old in the 1980s and is still on the front desk today, 40+ years later. Many of our Dukinfield patients have been seeing the same familiar faces across two — sometimes three — generations of their own family.
You can see what life inside the practice is actually like on our Instagram — @walmsleydental — where we regularly share before/after implant cases, treatment journeys, and behind-the-scenes content from the team.

Dukinfield implant FAQs
Why should Dukinfield patients choose a family practice over a larger corporate chain?
Dukinfield sits in the Tame Valley between larger chains in Ashton and Manchester. We offer continuity of care — the same clinician year after year, no rotating associate dentists, no quarterly KPI targets to upsell unnecessary treatments. Patients who come to us tell us they wanted to know the person placing their implant will be there for the next 20 years.
What is the actual driving time from Dukinfield to your practice?
Dukinfield town centre is about 12 minutes from us along a pleasant route through the Tame Valley — no motorway, no sitting in Ashton or Manchester traffic. Many Dukinfield patients tell us the short, quiet drive along the valley is actually a selling point.
How does your pricing compare to implant providers in Ashton or Manchester?
Competitive with other private implant providers across the Tame Valley and considerably below specialist implant centres in central Manchester. Fixed written quote after consultation — no surprise add-ons. All-on-4 (£10,000 per arch) is typically £4,000–£8,000 below specialist centres in central Manchester.
Can I switch to Walmsley Dental if I’m registered elsewhere?
Absolutely. Many Dukinfield patients come to us for implant treatment while staying registered with their existing dentist for routine care. Or you can transfer all your care to us with your consent.
Is the implant procedure done in one visit?
For most cases, no — placement is a single appointment under local anaesthetic, then 3–4 months for the implant to integrate before fitting the final porcelain crown.
What if I need bone grafting before I can have implants?
Bone grafting and sinus lifts are quoted separately and depend on what your CBCT scan shows. Many patients don’t actually need grafting once we’ve taken the scan.
What’s your success rate for dental implants?
Single implants we place have an integration success rate above 97%, in line with the published clinical evidence for premium implant systems placed by experienced clinicians.
What makes Walmsley Dental different from corporate dental chains?
Family-owned and family-run. Founded by Stephen and Heather Walmsley in 1984, now run by their son Dr Edward Walmsley with his wife Emma. Continuity of care, no rotating clinicians, no upsell pressure.
