Walmsley Dental is the choice for Mossley patients who want continuity over convenience — and we can prove it. We’ve been on Manchester Road since 1984. We’re family-owned and family-run. And we hold a 4.9★ Google rating from over 340 patient reviews. Many of our most loyal implant patients live in Mossley and the surrounding Pennine foothills, and have been with us across multiple generations of their families.

Single dental implant from £2,750. All-on-4 from £10,000 per arch. All-on-6 from £12,000 per arch. Implant consultation £50, fully redeemable against treatment.

Why Mossley patients choose a 20-minute drive for continuity

Mossley patients could choose a local practice. But many of you deliberately travel to us. Here’s why: continuity of care matters for implants.

Implants are a 20, 30, sometimes 40-year tooth replacement. The practice that places your implants needs to still be there in 5, 10, 20 years for hygiene, monitoring, and the rare repair. A practice running on rotating clinicians and quarterly KPI pressure to upsell? That’s not continuity. That’s a transaction.

Walmsley Dental is different. The practice was founded on Manchester Road in 1984 by Stephen and Heather Walmsley. It’s now run by their son Dr Edward Walmsley (GDC No. 202897) and his wife Emma Walmsley. That’s 40+ years of family ownership, no corporate change-of-hands, no rotating clinicians, no pressure to upsell. If we placed your implant in 2005, the same dentist who did it is still here. If your daughter gets an implant in 2026, you can see the same team.

It’s not just the clinicians. Our receptionist Loren joined the practice as a 16-year-old in the 1980s and is still on the front desk today, 40+ years later. Many of our Mossley patients have watched this practice stay the same while the wider dental world changed. Their parents were treated here. They’re treated here. Their children will be treated here.

That’s rare. That’s worth a 20-minute drive.

You can see what life inside the practice is actually like on our Instagram — @walmsleydental — where we regularly share before/after implant cases, treatment journeys, and behind-the-scenes content from the team.

What our Mossley implant patients get

  • Fixed quote in writing after a £50 consultation including intraoral examination
  • CBCT 3D scan for precise implant planning before any clinical work

  • Custom porcelain crown designed and fitted in-house using our digital workflow
  • Hygiene appointments included in every implant treatment plan
  • 0% interest finance over 12 months, longer-term plans up to 60 months at low APR

Mossley implant FAQs

Why would I drive 20 minutes to Droylsden when there are implant practices in Mossley?

That’s the question we hear most from Mossley patients — and it’s a fair one. The honest answer: proximity is not the same as continuity. If you want a practice you can see the same dentist at for 20, 30, 40 years, with staff who know your case, with no quarterly pressure to upsell, then the drive matters less than the destination. Mossley patients specifically tell us they chose us for the family continuity and the 340+ five-star Google reviews that prove we deliver. You’re not paying for convenience; you’re paying for trust.

How does your pricing compare to other Mossley implant providers?

Competitive with other private implant providers in Mossley and considerably below Manchester city-centre implant centres. Fixed written quote after consultation — no surprise add-ons. All-on-4 (£10,000 per arch) is typically £4,000–£8,000 below specialist implant centres in central Manchester.

Can I switch to Walmsley Dental if I’m currently registered with another Mossley practice?

Absolutely. Many Mossley patients come to us for implant treatment while staying registered with their existing dentist for routine care. Or transfer all your care to us with your consent.

Is the implant procedure done in one visit?

For most cases, no — placement is a single appointment under local anaesthetic, then 3–4 months for the implant to integrate before fitting the final porcelain crown.

What if I need bone grafting before I can have implants?

Bone grafting and sinus lifts are quoted separately and depend on what your CBCT scan shows. Many patients don’t actually need grafting once we’ve taken the scan.

Can I see a written treatment plan before I commit?

Yes — every implant patient leaves their first appointment with a written treatment plan and fixed quote. The £50 consultation fee is fully redeemable.

What’s your success rate for dental implants?

Single implants we place have an integration success rate above 97%, in line with the published clinical evidence for premium implant systems placed by experienced clinicians.

What makes Walmsley Dental different from corporate dental chains?

Family-owned and family-run. Founded by Stephen and Heather Walmsley in 1984, now run by their son Dr Edward Walmsley with his wife Emma. Continuity of care, no rotating clinicians, no upsell pressure.

Common Questions About Cosmetic Dentistry

How long does composite bonding last?

Typically 5–8 years with normal care. It can be polished, repaired, or topped up without removing any natural tooth.

Will porcelain veneers look natural?

Yes. They're custom-made to match your face and skin tone. The hand-sculpted preview means you approve the look before anything is lab-made.

Is the treatment painful?

Composite bonding involves no drilling at all. Porcelain veneers require very minimal preparation under local anaesthetic — most patients describe it as a non-event.

Can I see what my smile will look like first?

Yes. Dr Walmsley hand-sculpts a temporary composite preview directly onto your teeth at the consultation. You wear it home for a day or two before committing.

Do you offer payment plans?

0% finance is available on all treatments over £1,000, subject to standard credit approval.

How long does the full process take?

Composite bonding: usually one visit. Porcelain veneers: 2–3 visits over 2–4 weeks. Combined smile makeovers: 4–8 weeks depending on scope.

Will this damage my real teeth?

No. Composite bonding adds material to your existing tooth — nothing is removed. Porcelain veneers require less than 0.5mm of preparation.

What if I'm not happy with the result?

We don't move from the composite preview to permanent treatment until you've approved the look. Refinements after that are included in the price.

Our Differentiator: A Family Practice That'll Still Be Here

Implants need monitoring for the rest of your life. The practice that places them needs to still be here in 5, 10, or even 20 years for any rare follow-up care.

We've been a trusted local family practice for over 40 years — and we're not going anywhere.

Same dentist. Same team. Same address since 1984.

Single Dental Implant — From £2,750

Replaces one missing tooth. Includes the implant, abutment, custom porcelain crown, all surgery, and follow-up appointments. Placed under local anaesthetic.

Typical timeline: 3–6 months from placement to final crown. Temporary tooth provided during healing.

All-on-4 Full Arch — From £10,000 per arch

Replaces a complete row of teeth using just four implants, with a fixed bridge that snaps onto them. Same-day teeth in selected cases. See our dedicated All-on-4 Manchester page for the full breakdown.

Common Questions About Dental Implants

How long do dental implants last?

With good care and regular check-ups, implants can last 15–25 years — often a lifetime. The crown on top may need replacing after 10–15 years.

Is the procedure painful?

Placed under effective local anaesthetic. Most patients report little to no discomfort during the procedure and mild soreness afterwards, similar to a tooth extraction.

How long does the whole process take?

From initial consultation to final crown, usually 3–6 months depending on healing and whether bone grafting is needed.

Will I be without teeth during healing?

In most cases we provide temporary teeth so you're never without a smile during the healing phase.

Can I have implants if I have bone loss?

Often yes. We use CBCT scanning to assess your bone and can use advanced techniques or grafting when needed.

Do you offer finance?

0% finance is available on plans over £1,000, subject to standard credit approval.

What's the difference between implants and a bridge?

Implants replace the root as well as the tooth and don't damage neighbouring teeth. Bridges rely on adjacent teeth for support — which means grinding down healthy teeth.

What happens if an implant fails?

Failure is rare (around 95–98% success rate). If it does happen, we'll support you with a clear plan — most can be successfully replaced.
