Ashton-under-Lyne patients have choice when it comes to dental implants. What sets Walmsley Dental apart isn’t proximity — we’re 10 minutes down the A635 in Droylsden. What matters is heritage, continuity, and proven trust. We’ve been serving implant patients across Tameside since 1984. We’re family-owned and family-run. And we hold a 4.9★ Google rating from over 340 patient reviews — making us one of the most trusted implant providers in the region.
Many Ashton patients specifically choose us because there are alternatives. They tell us they wanted a more established option with a long track record, no rotating clinicians, and the reassurance of seeing the same team year after year.
Single dental implant from £2,750. All-on-4 from £10,000 per arch. All-on-6 from £12,000 per arch. Implant consultation £50, fully redeemable against treatment.
A family practice on Manchester Road since 1984
Walmsley Dental was founded in 1984 by Stephen and Heather Walmsley on Manchester Road in Droylsden — just south-west of Ashton-under-Lyne. Today it’s run by their son Dr Edward Walmsley (GDC No. 202897) and his wife Emma Walmsley. That makes us one of the longest-established dental practices serving the Ashton and wider Tameside area.
That continuity matters for implant patients. Implants are a long-term tooth replacement — they need to last decades. The practice that places them needs to still be there in 5, 10, 20 years for hygiene, monitoring, and the occasional repair. We’ve been here for over 40 years, with 340+ five-star Google reviews to back us up, and we’re not going anywhere.
It’s not just the family clinicians who’ve stayed. Our receptionist Loren joined the practice as a 16-year-old in the 1980s and is still on the front desk today, 40+ years later. Many of our Ashton patients have been seeing the same familiar faces across two — sometimes three — generations of their own family.
You can see what life inside the practice is actually like on our Instagram — @walmsleydental — where we regularly share before/after implant cases, treatment journeys, and behind-the-scenes content from the team.

Ashton implant FAQs
Why do Ashton patients travel to Walmsley Dental when there are implant providers in Ashton town centre?
Ashton has several dental practices offering implants, and that’s exactly why some Ashton patients specifically seek us out. They tell us they wanted a more established, family-run practice with a proven long-term track record (40+ years, 340+ five-star Google reviews) and the continuity of seeing the same clinicians year after year. The 10-minute drive to Droylsden is a small price for that peace of mind — and for implants that need to last 20+ years, the practice you choose matters as much as the implant itself.
How does your pricing compare to Ashton implant providers?
Our pricing is competitive with other private implant practices in Ashton and the Tameside area, and considerably below Manchester city-centre implant centres. Fixed written quote after consultation — no surprise add-ons. Our All-on-4 full-arch price (£10,000 per arch) is typically £4,000–£8,000 below specialist implant centres in central Manchester.
Can I switch to Walmsley Dental if I’m currently registered with an Ashton practice?
Absolutely. Many Ashton patients come to us specifically for implant treatment while staying registered with their existing dentist for routine care. Or you can transfer all your care to us; we’ll request your records from your previous practice with your consent.
Is the implant procedure done in one visit?
For most cases, no — the implant placement is a single appointment under local anaesthetic, then we allow 3–4 months for the implant to integrate before fitting the final crown.
What if I need bone grafting before I can have implants?
Bone grafting and sinus lifts are quoted separately and depend on what your CBCT scan shows. Many patients don’t actually need grafting once we’ve taken the scan.
Can I see a written treatment plan before I commit?
Yes — every patient leaves their first appointment with a written treatment plan and fixed quote. The £50 consultation fee is fully redeemable.
What’s your success rate for dental implants?
Single implants we place have an integration success rate above 97%, in line with the published clinical evidence for premium implant systems placed by experienced clinicians.
What makes Walmsley Dental different from corporate dental chains?
Family-owned and family-run. Founded by Stephen and Heather Walmsley in 1984, now run by their son Dr Edward Walmsley with his wife Emma. Continuity of care, no rotating clinicians, no upsell pressure.
