Your Smile Transformed — Without the Journey Across Manchester
You’ve been thinking about it for a while. A brighter smile. Straighter-looking teeth. Closing that gap. That little chip you’ve been self-conscious about. Maybe you’ve seen before-and-after photos online and thought: That could be me. But you’ve also thought: Where do I even start? How much will it cost? Will it hurt?
Here’s the truth: smile makeovers have changed lives, and you’re closer to your own transformation than you think. We’re in Audenshaw — literally one mile away — and unlike the big city practices that treat cosmetic dentistry as a sales pipeline, we design your smile together, show you the result before any treatment starts, and let you decide if it feels right.
Welcome to Walmsley Dental. Family-run since 1984. 4.9★ rating from over 340 real patients. And your local cosmetic choice.
A Smile Makeover That’s Actually Local
The practice is on Manchester Road in Droylsden — the same road that runs through Audenshaw. Many of our Audenshaw patients walk to us. Seriously: if you live on or near Manchester Road in Audenshaw, it’s often faster to walk than to drive. And if you drive, it’s five minutes.
That matters because cosmetic dentistry is personal. You’re not just getting teeth whitened or bonded — you’re changing how you look in the mirror, in selfies, on Zoom, and in every photo for the next 5–10 years. You want to work with someone you trust, someone you can actually reach, and someone who’ll support you after the work is done. Not a revolving door of different clinicians. Not a corporate call-centre script. Just the same team, the same place, year after year.
We’re run by Dr Edward Walmsley (GDC No. 202897) and his wife Emma Walmsley. Edward’s parents, Stephen and Heather Walmsley, founded the practice in 1984. Our receptionist, Loren, has been on the front desk for over 40 years — so long she’s now seeing the grandchildren of her original patients. That’s the practice you’re walking or driving to: one where your name and your story are remembered.
The Smile Makeover Starts With Seeing Your Future
We’ll never push you into treatment. Instead, we start with a free smile-design consultation where you’ll see your smile transformed before any treatment even books.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1: We listen. A 30–45 minute appointment where you tell us what you like about your smile and what you’d change. We’re not here to tell you what you should change — we’re here to help you get what you want.
Step 2: We show you the future. Dr Walmsley takes detailed clinical photos of your smile and, in most cases, sculpts a hand-made composite trial smile directly onto your teeth at the same appointment. You see it, feel it, and wear it home — no software simulation, no guessing. You can approve it, tweak it, or say “not yet” — and that’s completely fine.
Step 3: You decide, in writing. You leave with a written treatment plan and a fixed price. No add-ons. No “while we’ve got you here” upsells. The fee you see is the fee you pay (unless you decide to add whitening or other treatments, which is entirely your choice).
Step 4: Mock-up trial (optional but recommended). For more involved cases, we can apply temporary composite directly onto your teeth so you can live with the result for a few days. You can eat, laugh, take selfies — feel exactly what it’s like before we commit to permanent treatment. Many patients find this makes the decision easy: you already know you love it because you’ve worn it.
Smile Makeover Treatments & Pricing
All prices below include consultation and bespoke composite preview.
Composite Bonding — From £350 per tooth (6-tooth smile from £1,800) We sculpt tooth-coloured composite resin directly onto your existing teeth in a single visit. It closes gaps, masks chips, brightens discoloration, and reshapes teeth. Minimal drilling. Reversible if you ever want to change it. Lasts 5–8 years. Perfect for patients who want a fast, affordable transformation with zero downtime. Single tooth edge bonding: £300. Full-face bonding: £350 per tooth.
Porcelain Veneers — From £750 per tooth (8–10 tooth smile from £6,000) Thin porcelain shells custom-made to fit your teeth like a glove. More durable than bonding, completely stain-proof, and capable of dramatic shade and shape changes. Lab-fabricated from a precise 3D digital scan once you’ve approved the hand-sculpted trial smile. Two visits, two weeks apart. Final result is often indistinguishable from a naturally perfect smile. Lasts 10–15 years. £750 per tooth. Full-smile veneer cases typically 8–10 teeth: £6,000–£7,500.
Teeth Whitening — £350 Custom-fitted home-whitening trays with professional-strength gel. Two weeks of nightly use, completely safe, and used by thousands of Audenshaw patients. Often the first step in a smile makeover (we whiten first, then match bonding or veneers to your new brightness). Top-up syringes: £30 each.
Combination Smile Makeovers The best transformations often mix treatments. Whitening + composite bonding (£2,150–£2,450). Or full veneer cases (£6,000–£11,500). We design what’s right for you at consultation.

Smile Makeover FAQs
I’m nervous about cosmetic dentistry. Will you pressure me into treatment? No. We do the opposite: we show you a preview, give you time to think, and send you away with a quote and no obligation. If you want to book treatment the same day, brilliant. If you want to go home, sleep on it, and call us next week, that’s equally welcome. Some patients book immediately; others take two months. There’s no pressure. This is your smile.
Can I really see my smile before any treatment? Yes. At consultation, we’ll show you a bespoke composite preview using clinical photos. For more involved cases, we can also do a composite mock-up trial — temporary bonding applied to your teeth so you can see and feel the exact result, take it home, eat and laugh with it, and come back once you’ve decided. It’s one of the most popular parts of our cosmetic process.
How does the composite bonding work? Does it feel natural? Composite resin is tooth-coloured and sculpted by hand onto your existing tooth in a single appointment (usually 60–90 minutes for a full smile case). It feels exactly like a natural tooth, and you can eat, drink, and smile normally immediately after (no waiting time). It’s not permanent — it lasts 5–8 years depending on your habits — but it’s also easily repaired or changed if you want to adjust the look later.
What’s the difference between bonding and veneers? Bonding is faster (one visit), cheaper, and reversible. Veneers are more durable, completely stain-proof, and capable of more dramatic changes. Bonding is ideal for a quick transformation on a budget; veneers are ideal if you want a result that lasts 10–15 years with zero maintenance. We’ll recommend what’s right for your smile at consultation.
Will composite bonding stain? It can pick up surface stains from coffee, tea, wine, and curries — but these are easily polished off at a hygiene appointment. Porcelain veneers don’t stain at all (porcelain is glass-like and impermeable). If staining worries you, veneers are the better choice.
What if I have social anxiety about showing my teeth during treatment? We get this a lot, and we’re used to it. You can wear a mask in the waiting room. The treatment itself is just you and Dr Walmsley in a private room — no audience, no judgement. You’re in control. Many of our anxious patients find that once they see the preview and book treatment, the anxiety actually disappears — because now they know exactly what they’re getting, and they’re excited about it.
How long before I can show off my new smile? Composite bonding: immediately after your appointment (same day you can post to Instagram if you want). Porcelain veneers: 2 weeks after your first appointment. Teeth whitening: you’ll notice results within a week and final results in two weeks. So yes, you can have a noticeably brighter smile within a fortnight.
Do I need to whiten first? If you want a brighter overall smile, yes — we whiten first, then match bonding or veneers to your new shade. Bonding can’t be re-whitened later, so it’s important to lock in the brightness you want upfront. Whitening is usually the first step in any major smile makeover.
What happens if I hate my new smile? With composite bonding, we can adjust it or remove it and re-do it — it’s reversible. With veneers, this is extremely rare because you’ve already approved the bespoke composite preview and the mock-up trial before treatment, but if something feels wrong, we can discuss options. Honestly, after going through the preview and mock-up process, patients are almost always thrilled with the final result.
How much does a smile makeover cost? It varies. A simple six-tooth composite bonding smile: £1,800–£2,100. Add professional whitening: another £350. A full porcelain veneer smile (8–10 teeth): £6,000–£7,500. We give you a fixed written quote after the consultation, with no hidden costs.
