Your Smile Makeover Starts Here — Hyde to Droylsden

Your smile has power. It’s the first thing people notice. It’s what you see every time you look in the mirror. And if you’ve been holding back from smiling, laughing freely, or taking photos because you don’t like the way your teeth look, it’s time to change that.

Smile makeovers at Walmsley Dental transform not just teeth — they transform confidence. And we’ve been doing this for four decades, for families across Tameside and Greater Manchester. If you’re in Hyde and looking to rediscover your smile, we’re 15 minutes away, and we specialise in the cosmetic transformations that matter.

You can see before-and-after transformations on our Instagram @walmsleydental — real patients, real results, the confidence that comes with a smile you actually want.

What a Smile Makeover Really Means

A smile makeover isn’t a single treatment — it’s a bespoke combination of cosmetic procedures designed around your goals and your teeth. Maybe you want to brighten a dull smile. Maybe you have gaps or chips you’ve been hiding. Maybe you’re dreaming of a complete transformation — whiter, straighter, more confident.

At Walmsley Dental, we don’t apply a one-size-fits-all template. Every smile makeover begins with a free smile design consultation where Dr Edward Walmsley uses a hand-sculpted composite preview to show you the finished result before any treatment begins. You’ll see exactly what you’re investing in — and you decide whether you want to move forward.

We offer:

Smile Makeover Prices — Transparent, No Surprises

Why Smile Makeovers Work — The Psychology of Transformation

When you’re unhappy with your smile, you change your behaviour. You stop laughing at full volume. You avoid photos. You hold your hand in front of your mouth during conversations. That’s not vanity — that’s a real impact on your life.

Research shows that cosmetic dental treatment leads to measurable improvements in confidence, social engagement, and quality of life. People smile more. They’re more likely to pursue promotions, social connections, and new relationships. And that shift starts the moment you see and feel your finished smile in our bespoke composite trial.

The Smile Makeover Process — From Consultation to Confidence

1. Free Smile Design Consultation (30–45 minutes) You meet with Dr Edward Walmsley. We take clinical photos and study your smile in different lighting, and discuss exactly what you want to change. You see a bespoke composite preview of your new smile — and you decide if you love it.

2. Mock-Up (Optional) For more complex cases, we can apply temporary composite directly to your teeth so you can live with the design for a few days before committing to permanent treatment. It’s your chance to see, feel, and fall in love with the result in real life.

3. Treatment Composite bonding: 1–2 visits, 90 minutes per visit. Veneers: 2 visits, 2 weeks apart. Whitening: 2 weeks of nightly home use.

4. Aftercare We provide hygiene appointments to keep your smile looking fresh. Bonding needs polishing every 6–12 months; veneers, every 12 months.

Smile Makeover FAQs — Your Questions Answered

What’s the difference between composite bonding and porcelain veneers? Composite bonding uses tooth-coloured resin sculpted onto your existing tooth in a single visit — minimal or no drilling, more affordable, easily repaired if damaged. Porcelain veneers are custom shells bonded to the front of your teeth — more durable, completely stain-proof, capable of more dramatic shape and colour changes. For small improvements, bonding. For full smile transformations, veneers.

Can I see my smile before I commit? Yes — and we recommend it. We offer two options. First: a bespoke smile design preview where we show you the exact result on your own teeth using a hand-sculpted composite mock-up before any permanent treatment. Second: a composite mock-up trial where we apply temporary composite to your teeth so you can live with the design, take selfies, and feel confident the result is right before we finalize it.

Will my smile look natural? Absolutely. We match colour, shape, and proportion to your face and existing teeth. We’re not here to give everyone the same Hollywood smile — we’re here to give you the best version of your own smile. Modern cosmetic dentistry should be undetectable.

How long does cosmetic treatment take? Composite bonding: 1–2 visits, total 3–4 weeks. Porcelain veneers: 2 visits, 2 weeks apart, plus any whitening beforehand. Whitening alone: 2 weeks of nightly use. Most full smile makeovers are completed in 4–8 weeks.

How long will my bonding/veneers last? Composite bonding: 5–8 years depending on habits (avoid biting nails, chewing pens, grinding). It’s repairable — chips can be polished or topped up in one visit. Porcelain veneers: 10–15 years typically, sometimes longer. Veneers usually need full replacement if damaged.

What if I have social anxiety about the appointments? Many patients feel nervous about cosmetic treatment — it’s a vulnerable decision. We create a calm, private environment. You can request to work with the same team member across appointments for consistency. You control the pace — there’s no pressure to proceed until you’re ready. And you see the result before committing, which removes a lot of anxiety.

Will bonding or veneers stain over time? Composite bonding can pick up surface stains from coffee, tea, red wine, curries — but these are polishable at your hygiene appointments. Porcelain veneers don’t stain (porcelain is glass-like). We recommend regular hygiene polishing for both to keep them looking fresh.

Do I need to whiten my teeth first? If you want a brighter smile overall, yes. We whiten first, then match your bonding or veneers to your new shade. Bonding can’t be re-whitened after placement, so locking in the right colour upfront is important. It’s part of the smile design process.

What’s the cost of a full smile makeover? It depends on what you’re transforming. Composite bonding smile makeover: £1,800–£2,100 for six teeth. Whitening + bonding: £2,150–£2,450. Full porcelain veneer case (8–10 teeth): £6,000–£11,500. We provide a fixed written quote after your consultation.

Can I pay in instalments? Yes. We offer 0% finance over 12 months on plans over £1,000. Longer-term plans available at low APR.

Common Questions About Cosmetic Dentistry

How long does composite bonding last?

Typically 5–8 years with normal care. It can be polished, repaired, or topped up without removing any natural tooth.

Will porcelain veneers look natural?

Yes. They're custom-made to match your face and skin tone. The hand-sculpted preview means you approve the look before anything is lab-made.

Is the treatment painful?

Composite bonding involves no drilling at all. Porcelain veneers require very minimal preparation under local anaesthetic — most patients describe it as a non-event.

Can I see what my smile will look like first?

Yes. Dr Walmsley hand-sculpts a temporary composite preview directly onto your teeth at the consultation. You wear it home for a day or two before committing.

Do you offer payment plans?

0% finance is available on all treatments over £1,000, subject to standard credit approval.

How long does the full process take?

Composite bonding: usually one visit. Porcelain veneers: 2–3 visits over 2–4 weeks. Combined smile makeovers: 4–8 weeks depending on scope.

Will this damage my real teeth?

No. Composite bonding adds material to your existing tooth — nothing is removed. Porcelain veneers require less than 0.5mm of preparation.

What if I'm not happy with the result?

We don't move from the composite preview to permanent treatment until you've approved the look. Refinements after that are included in the price.

Common Questions About Dental Implants

How long do dental implants last?

With good care and regular check-ups, implants can last 15–25 years — often a lifetime. The crown on top may need replacing after 10–15 years.

Is the procedure painful?

Placed under effective local anaesthetic. Most patients report little to no discomfort during the procedure and mild soreness afterwards, similar to a tooth extraction.

How long does the whole process take?

From initial consultation to final crown, usually 3–6 months depending on healing and whether bone grafting is needed.

Will I be without teeth during healing?

In most cases we provide temporary teeth so you're never without a smile during the healing phase.

Can I have implants if I have bone loss?

Often yes. We use CBCT scanning to assess your bone and can use advanced techniques or grafting when needed.

Do you offer finance?

0% finance is available on plans over £1,000, subject to standard credit approval.

What's the difference between implants and a bridge?

Implants replace the root as well as the tooth and don't damage neighbouring teeth. Bridges rely on adjacent teeth for support — which means grinding down healthy teeth.

What happens if an implant fails?

Failure is rare (around 95–98% success rate). If it does happen, we'll support you with a clear plan — most can be successfully replaced.
