Cosmetic treatments we offer
Cosmetic dentistry is about enhancing your natural smile, whether that means closing small gaps, brightening stained teeth, repairing chips or improving the shape and balance of your teeth. These are the cosmetic treatments we offer, each with its own page:
- Composite bonding – tooth-coloured composite resin sculpted directly onto your existing teeth to close gaps, fix chips and reshape uneven edges, with minimal or no drilling in most cases.
- Composite veneers – hand-sculpted like bonding, but covering the full front of the tooth.
- Porcelain veneers – thin porcelain shells bonded to the front of the teeth to correct shape, colour, chips and gaps. A very thin layer of enamel is gently shaped so the veneer sits naturally.
- Teeth whitening – our Boutique home-whitening kit, with custom-made trays, professional-strength gel and dentist supervision.
- Invisalign® and SureSmile® clear aligners – clear aligners to straighten teeth, sometimes used before other cosmetic work.
- Fixed braces – ceramic (tooth-coloured) or metal braces to straighten teeth, sometimes used before other cosmetic work.
- Smile makeover – two or more of these treatments combined into one personalised plan.

Bonding and veneers are priced per tooth, so your total depends on how many teeth you would like treated. Joining a practice membership plan gives 15% off listed treatments. If you are combining treatments, our smile makeover cost guide explains how a combined plan is priced.
Composite or porcelain: choosing between them
Both improve the look of your teeth, but they suit different goals. Composite bonding and composite veneers are the reversible, lower-cost route. Porcelain veneers cost more, last longer and resist staining better, but involve removing a thin layer of enamel.
Some people choose just a few front teeth; others choose a full upper set. There is no single right answer, and we will talk through both options honestly at your consultation before recommending one.

Every treatment is planned around the individual, so results are individual to each person.
Whitening before other cosmetic work
Whitening only works on natural teeth. Crowns, veneers and composite bonding will not change colour, so if whitening is part of your plan we usually carry it out first. Any bonding or veneers can then be shade-matched to your newly whitened teeth.
Because we make your whitening trays to fit your teeth, you can keep them and buy more gel to top up later.
Your £50 cosmetic consultation, redeemable against your treatment if you go ahead
Every cosmetic plan starts with a consultation, which is £50, as listed on our fees page, and is redeemable against your treatment if you go ahead. At your consultation we take clinical photos, talk through what you would like to change and check that your teeth and gums are healthy. Where suitable, Dr Walmsley hand-sculpts a temporary composite preview directly onto your teeth, so you can see the proposed design before deciding.
You leave with a fixed written quote, so you know the cost before you commit, and there is no obligation to proceed. Consultations are available on weekdays and select Saturdays.

Spreading the cost
0% interest-free finance is available for up to 12 months, with longer interest-bearing plans up to 5 years. We can talk you through the options when we give you your quote.

Cosmetic dentistry: frequently asked questions
What cosmetic treatments do you offer?
We offer composite bonding, composite veneers, porcelain veneers, Boutique home teeth whitening and Invisalign® or SureSmile® clear aligners. Two or more of these can be combined into a smile makeover.
How much does a cosmetic consultation cost?
The consultation is £50, as listed on our dental fees page, and is redeemable against your treatment if you go ahead. You leave with a fixed written quote, with no obligation to proceed.
Can I see what my new smile might look like first?
Yes. Where suitable, Dr Walmsley hand-sculpts a temporary composite preview directly onto your teeth at the consultation, so you can see the proposed design before deciding.
Should I choose composite bonding or porcelain veneers?
Composite bonding is faster, more affordable and reversible, making it suited to small chips, gaps and reshaping. Porcelain veneers last longer and resist staining better, so they suit more extensive changes. We will recommend the right option at your consultation.
