What can Invisalign® fix?
Crowded teeth
Crowded teeth is a condition where you do not have enough room for your teeth to fit normally. This can cause plaque or tartar and other harmful bacteria to build up as it is harder for you to brush and floss well.
Gaps between teeth
Gaps between teeth is when there is extra space between two or more of your teeth. This can cause pockets between your teeth and gums and can cause food to get stuck making them tender and sore. This might also lead to gum disease.
Open bite
An open bite is when your upper and lower teeth don't touch when you close your mouth. An open bite can make it hard for you to chew or difficult to bite even the most common of food like apples.
Underbite
An underbite is when you close your mouth and your lower front teeth are in front of your upper teeth. In many cases, this is actually a problem with your lower jaw being too far forward. An underbite can make it hard to chew properly and speak clearly, and it might cause your teeth to wear down more quickly.
Overbite
An overbite is when your upper front teeth overlap with your lower front teeth. Most people have at least a little overbite. When your overbite is too large, your doctor might tell you you have a deep bite. This can cause problems, from your teeth wearing down to pain in your jaw.
Crossbite
A crossbite is when you close your mouth and yet some of your upper teeth are sitting inside your lower teeth rather than on the outside. A crossbite can make your teeth wear down or chip. It can also make your gums start to recede or make little notches above your gum line. This kind of damage can lead to painful gum problems or even bone loss.

FAQs
1. What is Invisalign?
2. How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign works by gently moving the teeth into the desired position via a series of clear aligners that the patient swaps out every 1-2 weeks. This means no uncomfortable wire tightening and far fewer trips to the practice.
3. What is the treatment process like?
Treatment with Invisalign is super simple:
- You’ll come into the practice to have a 3D image taken of your mouth with our digital scanner. This will be used to build your treatment journey plan as well as your bespoke aligner trays.
- Once your aligners have been made, you’ll wear them every day for 22 hours a day, swapping them out every 1-2 weeks.
- You’ll come into the practice every few months so that we can keep an eye on your progress and make sure the teeth are moving as desired.
- After 3-12 months, your smile will be straighter and ready for you to show off!
4. Is Invisalign removable?
Yes, your clear aligners are completely removable, so you can take them out to eat and brush your teeth. This means that you can eat whatever you like and stick to your usual oral health routine rather than using special brushes.
5. How long does the treatment take?
The exact length of treatment time is different for every patient. Some very minor misalignment issues can be treated in as little as three months, but most patients wear their aligners for 6-12 months.
6. How often do I have to wear my aligners?
To achieve the desired outcome in the timeline projected, you need to wear your aligners every day for 22 hours or more. You can take them off for special events, but we recommend doing this as little as possible.
7. Will Invisalign hurt?
Some patients might have some mild discomfort when they first start wearing their aligners, but Invisalign shouldn’t be painful. In fact, they are much more comfortable than braces.
8. Is Invisalign suitable for all ages?
Invisalign can only be used on fully developed teeth, meaning all baby teeth must have been replaced by adult teeth to carry out the treatment. This means it can be used on teenagers and adults alike.
9. What kind of issues can Invisalign help address?
- Overbites
- Underbites
- Crossbites
- Open bites
- Crowded/overlapping teeth
- Gaps between teeth
10. Will I have to wear a retainer?
Yes, you will need to wear a retainer once the treatment is complete. This is to help make sure your teeth don’t revert to their original position.
